The proper restart

As I'd promised myself, I restarted sole source on Sunday and have so far been really good, losing a total of 8.4lbs.

It's hard and the smell of food drives me crazy, but I'm going to settle down with a plate of chicken and vegetables tonight as a reward for getting halfway through my first week.

My crazyness over the end of last week had me gaining loads! I went from 151 to 160!
I'm now down to 152lbs again.
Hopefully. By the en of next week I'll be down to 147lbs - my pre Xmas weight :D

The failed restart

I tried restarting CD SS on Monday, but have failed miserably.
Problem is I am on a week of annual leave, and there's nothing to do. So I'm home and tearing the house apart after a few hours.
Plus some news that has threatened to destroy a plan in action. It killed me and I ate for Britain yesterday, washing it down with whiskey. Naughty, but I'll rethink restarting on Sunday - I'm back to work on Sunday. I start at 9am so can have my first tetra then, and have my 2nd in my break and my 3rd for dinner, as I'm supposed to.

For right now, I'm about to scrape some pennies together to buy some bread and baked beans - I have a real taste for beans on toast!

The post Xmas restart

I gained 9.4lbs over Xmas and New Year. I've managed to lose 1.6lbs since.

Gaining has put my BMI above 25 again, so I'm going to try Sole Source for the week. It's not to just lose the full 9.4lbs, but to also get back into the easier part of the diet: Ketosis! :D
It does mean the harder part of learning to not eat anything again and relying on my CD meals for my nutrition - very hard with all of the food in the cupboards, but I'm determined. And I'm not working this week, which should make it easier in regards to the headaches and carb withdrawals I'll start suffering from tomorrow, Wednesday and Thursday.

Day 1
Breakfast: CD Apple and Cinnamon porridge

Drinks: 2 mugs of black coffee
Water consumed: 0 so far, but will be working on it.

Lose weight with Phentramin

Despite knocking myself out of ketosis with a piece of chocolate, I've still lost a considerable amount of weight! Only 5lb's to go before I've lost a total of 3 stone :D

Another marker

2 stones gone

I've lost exactly 2 stones! My stupid body has retained 2 ounces to stop me from hitting this mark for about 3 days, and now its finally dropped 6 ounces to take me below the target! I'm really pleased :D

I ate for the first time in 24 days yesterday. I had 40g of pre-cooked chicken and a few broccoli and cauliflower florets for lunch. My Cambridge councillor also delivered a selection of Cambridge chocolate bars in the evening, so I ate one of those for dinner. I had a malt toffee flavoured bar, which I liked. One of the selection is an orange flavoured bar, which I've swapped with Helen for her cranberry crunch, because I'm not a citrus lover. I'll probably have that for dinner tonight when I'm out with a few friends I'm meeting up with. We would normally go to a pub, but I can't drink anything but black coffee/tea or water, so we're going to a Starbucks for coffee instead, which I'm looking forward to. It'll be nice to see them again, and they're being great in supporting my diet - anybody else would have insisted on going to a pub.

Can't wait till tonight. I'll be wearing my new size 14 pair of jeans too :D

Differences between Cambridge US and UK

I've just been researching the Cambridge diet as it's sold in the US. There's a lot of newbies to the forum asking about the difference so I thought I'd check it out, and while the concept is practically the same, the products have been tampered with!

This is what they have written about the development of the diet:

The Cambridge Diet
In 1970, Alan Howard, Ph.D. and a distinguished team of research nutritionists and medical doctors at Cambridge University in England, wrestled with the problem of obesity. Dr. Howard had an idea that it would be possible to discover the exact combination of nutritional building blocks that were needed by the body and that it would be possible to develop a formula which supplied all of these nutrients in a minimal number of calories.

What they developed after nearly a decade of research was an amazing nutritional breakthrough; a meal replacement that supplied all the known nutrients the body needed in a very-low-calorie formula.

Dr. Dennis Jones, a nutritionist and specialist in food chemistry, began collaboration with the team in 1973. He converted the research concept into a commercially viable formulation. He designed and implemented a development plan including formal clinical studies to full drug-testing standards. His goal was to turn Dr. Howard's original breakthrough research into an actual product that would be accessible to the public and not just remain in medical research.

The result of this work was a concentrated yet balanced nutritional formula so unique it was patented worldwide. The commercial rights to the formula were acquired by Cambridge Plan International in the United States, and here the flavor of the formula was dramatically improved for palatability and in 1979, it emerged as The Cambridge Diet.

What bullshit.
And you buy the products online rather than through a trained diet councillor, so anybody can buy them!
Meh, I understand that the American guidelines stipulate that our product isn't suitable for their market, and vice versa, but they have higher carb content in the products and state that you can lose up to 7lb's a week! I'm currently losing between 2 and 3lb's a week on my "original Cambridge diet" with it's lower carb content (it's the lack of carb helping me to lose the weight) so I can't see them actually losing that much TBH, except int he first week.

Anyway, research done.

Progress on the Cambridge diet

I've decided to start taking snapshots of my weight loss ticker so that I can see my progress more accurately. My average loss is roughly 1lb (454g) every 2 days, but I want to be able to visually see my progress over the weeks/months. I want to see when I hit my targets.
I have a mini goal on the horizen of 28lb's (2 stone, 12kg) loss. Only 1.4lb's (568g) to go!

I have never seen progress the way I have with this diet. I don't care what anybody says; The Cambridge diet rocks!

The lightest I've been in years!

I'm down to 160lb's! Considering that I was 178lb's on September 8th, I feel dead chuffed :D

I'm going to have a look at jeans later to see if I can buy a smaller (cheap) pair in a size 14. I'm probabl kidding myself and may have longer to go till I get to that size, but I'm looking forward to seeing just how far I have to go :D

Almost at the end of month 1 of the diet

I've not been sticking to the diet the last few days. Yesterday and the day before, my housemate and I went shopping and because we'd been out all day without eating, we went to Nando's both days.
Saturday we had chicken with salad, rice and garlic bread, but yesterday we were both so hungry we both just ordered garlic bread and chips.

Today we ate at home and had trout with steamed vegetables for dinner, but earlier in the day we both snacked on reduced fat cream crackers (35 cals per cracker) and reduced fat cocktail sausages (15 cals per sausage).

My housemate and I have also discovered a liking for Wychwood brewery ales, mixed with diet lemonade. I have no idea how many cals are in the ales, but I'm sure I'd not be happy when I found out!

Despite, this, the weight is still steadily coming off, thankfully.

I weighed 189lb's at the beginning of May. I now weigh 178.8lb's

Hopefully, despite what I have been eating/drinking, the weight will continue to drop off.

My night out

I had my two shakes and a large plain wholemeal pita bread before I left for the pub yesterday.

At the pub I settled for vodka (with the lowest calorie intake of 50cals per shot) with diet coke.

Despite not having eaten anything more than the pita, I was finding it extremely hard to get drunk (one of the reasons I stopped drinking was because it wasn't affecting me that much anymore) and this becamse a challenge to my friends (as I knew it would).

it took me 8 drinks to get tipsy.
I left at about quarter to eleven and on my way home I brought a Go Ahead yoghurt biscuits pack with about 150cals.

All in all, yesterday, I consumed about 930cals and today I feel like shit.

I've heated this mornings protein shake and it overheated and spilt into the microwave. I'm not best pleased right now. I've lost about a quarter of my breakfast which I'm still waiting too cool down so I can drink it.

Drinking is obviously the most stupid thing I could have done, but my friend wouldn't have let me get away with just drinking diet coke because he was the one buying.
I'm also not a vodka drinker, so maybe that hasn't helped.
